This is an online course that also has a Facebook community group.

Taught by Ashley Badgley, AKC FIT DOG Instructor, AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator, Certified Canine Behavior Practitioner, Certified Trick Dog Instructor

  • Well Fitting Harness or Collar and Regular 5-6ft Leash

  • Training Treats your dog LOVES and Pouch/Pocket to hold them

  • Training Platform such as a KLIMB or Cato Board (You can use any solid platform or low profile dog bed that is no more than 12” tall)

  • Two Rubber Feed Bowls (Available at farm stores too) or another solid bowl that your dog can fit both front paws on.

  • Non-slip Traction Mat or Yoga Mat

  • Jump Bump, Cavaletti Pole, Pool Noodle, or other low profile object for your dog to step over

  • Optional: Inflatable Fitness Platform like Blue-9 Propel Air or FitBones

Required Equipment for Class

Dog and Handler Requirements

You should have attended and passed the assessment for Level 1 AKC FIT DOG Course taught by an AKC FIT DOG Instructor. The skills from Level 1 will be important for this class. If you’ve attended a different trainer’s class, you will need a copy of your Level 1 assessment.

Dogs who attend must be in good health with no current injuries or prior injures that may inflict discomfort or pain. If your dog has a prior injury, please consult your vet first before joining FIT DOG Class.

This class is taught using positive reinforcement training. Dogs should not be forced to perform any fitness behavior for class or evaluations.

  • During Level 2 FIT DOG class you will learn the following skills

    • Target Hind Feet

    • Front Foot Target with Duration

    • Pivot Over an Object

    • Push Up

    • Stand and Give Paw

    • Leg Weaves

    • Walk Backward to Target

    • Hind Feet Elevated with Duration

    • Pop Ups

    • Front Limbs Elevated with Position Changes

    • Rear Limbs Elevated with Position Changes

    • And so much more!

  • This class earns you points towards your AKC FIT DOG Title but there are other categories required to qualify such as a group walk, independent walk, swimming, or other activity. Your FIT DOG instructor can direct you to an activity that can help you earn you points!

AKC FIT DOG Group Walks
