Policies and Terms of Service

  • Canine Speak Dog Training and Ashley Badgley(trainer) uses science-based training with the principles of fear-free, reward-based training methods. By signing this document you agree to the terms listed for the duration of the service.

    Aversive Tools Policy
The use of shock collars(ecollars), prong/pinch collars, citronella collars, and choke chains are not permitted during the entirety of the private training program. Martingale collars are permitted if not used for punishment.

    Treatment of Animals
I am committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for dogs and their owners. Physical punishment or intimidation of dogs is strictly prohibited by trainers, helpers, or clients during training sessions and outside of them. Examples of prohibited behavior include, but are not limited to hitting, kicking, spanking, screaming at or otherwise verbally intimidating the dog, choking, shocking, or spraying the dog. If you engage in such behavior during a training session, you will be asked to stop immediately. Persisting in this behavior or becoming confrontational will result in dismissal from the program. If it is brought to our attention that similar treatment occurs outside of training, we reserve the right to address the matter, which may include discontinuing services. Dismissal for violating this policy does not constitute an exception to the refund policy. Owners are solely responsible for their actions and their impact on the dog's well-being.

    Bite History and Safety
If your dog has ever bitten anyone - including you, a family member, a friend or a stranger, or an animal — (excluding puppies playing), the trainer must be notified before training begins. This way we can set up safety measures for everyone. Proof of current rabies vaccination for all dogs with a bite history will be required before private training sessions begin. Safety in these cases is top priority. Client agrees to follow all safety protocols provided by the trainer without change. Client must also report any incidents or new behavior concerns promptly to the trainer. Failure to comply with this policy does not constitute an exception to the refund policy. By agreeing to participate in training, you acknowledge the importance of these protocols and accept full responsibility for your dog’s behavior and safety measures required.

    Cancellation and Refund Policies
All deposits and payments are final and non-refundable; however deposits may be used as a credit towards a future service with a given deadline for use. Cancellations must be made within 12 hours of a training session for private sessions, any cancellations made less than 12 hours will be forfeit. Any cancellations made by the trainer will be made up fully when rescheduled. Of course emergencies and illnesses happen, please don’t hesitate to reach out if something does happen.

    Future Services
By entering into this contract, the client authorizes this contract to be valid approval for services so as to permit trainer and Canine Speak Dog Training to accept all future telephone, online, mail or email reservations and enter the client's home for paid private training sessions.

    Booking and Rescheduling Policies
Full payment is required to save a time slot for a private training session. No spot will be held without full payment for that session. Sessions that are asked to be rescheduled will have an expiry date. All private training sessions must be used within 3 months of the first training session unless payment for extension is agreed upon.

    Rescheduling for Weather
In the event of bad weather (e.g. heavy snow, icy conditions, severe storms, etc), a scheduled in-person session may be transitioned to a virtual session. Virtual sessions allow continuation of training progress despite the conditions. If a virtual session is not possible, rescheduling the in-person session may be discussed.

    Private Training Services
Trainer agrees to provide private lessons for the client and dog on a lesson-by-lesson basis, the goal being to teach you how to train and work with the dog. Trainer will make every reasonable effort to help achieve training and behavior modification goals but makes no guarantee of the dog’s performance or behavior as a result of providing professional animal behavior consultation. Client understands that he/she and members of the household must follow Trainer’s instructions without modification, work with the dog daily as recommended, and constantly reinforce training being given to the dog.
