Policies and Terms of Service

Please review these policies and terms of service before enrolling in private or group training.

Aversive Tools Policy
The use of shock collars(ecollars), prong collars, citronella collars, and choke chains are not permitted during private training or classes. Martingale collars are permitted if not used for punishment.

Treatment of Animals
I do not allow physical punishment or intimidation of dogs by trainer, helpers, or clients during training sessions. If you physically punish or intimidate your dog (including but not limited to hitting, kicking, screaming at, spanking, shocking, or choking) you will be asked to stop. Persisting in this behavior or becoming confrontational will result in dismissal. Dismissal for violating this policy does not create an exception to the refund policy. Owners are solely responsible for their actions

Biting and Fighting
If your dog has ever bitten anyone - including you, a family member, a friend or a stranger — enough to break the skin (excluding puppies playing), or if your dog has ever been involved in a dog fight, please call before enrolling in group classes. Private lessons may be recommended instead to work through these issues.

Class Cancellation and Refund Policies
All deposits and payments are final and non-refundable; if a class has not yet been started it may be credited towards a future class. If a class has been canceled by the trainer, you will be given a full refund or a credit towards a future class.

Rescheduled Classes
If the trainer needs to reschedule class, you will be notified via your preferred contact. Class will continue on the following week or another day to accommodate the enrolled students.

Private Training Cancellation and Refund Policies
All deposits and payments are final and non-refundable; however deposits may be used as a credit towards a future service with a given deadline for use. Cancellations must be made within 12 hours of a training session for private sessions, any cancellations made less than 12 hours will be forfeit. Any cancellations made by the trainer will be made up fully when rescheduled. Of course emergencies happen, please don’t hesitate to reach out if something does happen.

Payments
Credit cards, checks, PayPal, and Venmo are accepted. Checks can be made out to Canine Speak Dog Training. Checks must be received at least 1 week (7 days) before class or first session.

Training Services
Trainer agrees to provide private lessons for the client and dog on a lesson-by-lesson basis, the goal being to teach you how to train and work with the dog. Trainer will make every reasonable effort to help achieve training and behavior modification goals but makes no guarantee of the dog’s performance or behavior as a result of providing professional animal behavior consultation. Client understands that he/she and members of the household must follow Trainer’s instructions without modification, work with the dog daily as recommended, and constantly reinforce training being given to the dog.

Commercial Reuse of Services
The client herein agrees not to replicate, duplicate, copy, trade, sell, resell nor exploit for any commercial reason any part, use of, or access to Canine Speak Dog Training’s sites, handouts, or services.

Illnesses and Emergencies
If you or your puppy becomes ill, please do not attend class. Please notify the trainer via call, text, or email that you will be unable to attend. A missed class for illness or emergency will be offered a make-up session to get you and your puppy back on track. Any unnotified absences before class time will be considered a no-show.

Covid-19 Policies
Masks are optional during private or group classes unless specified by facility guidelines. If you are sick, please reschedule your private lesson for another day by contacting me via call or text message.

No-Shows
Group classes are done in steps, so it is best not to miss any classes to avoid falling behind. There are no make-up sessions for no-shows. Email follow ups are provided for what was missed. Please ensure that you can make it to the weekly classes before registering

Dog Dress Code

To keep you, your dog, and others safe, please make sure your dog is on a leash and well fitting collar or harness when entering a group class.

  • Collar: A plain/flat collar - no prong, shock(ecollar), or choke chains

  • Harness: Ones with both back and front attachments are great

  • Leash: (4-6 foot) made of cotton, nylon or leather (no retractable leashes please)

Leashes
Dogs are to be kept on leash for the entirety of group classes unless directed otherwise by the trainer. Please have your dog leashed before coming to class. Please do not have your dog greet another dog on leash as this can lead to fights.

Vaccinations
Dogs participating in private and group training service(s) must be current for Rabies and all other legally required vaccinations.

Additional vaccinations, including distemper, hepatitis, and parainfluenza, are not required, but encouraged unless otherwise directed by the indicated veterinarian. Owner to provide official documentation indicating vaccinations are contraindicated.  If you choose/refuse to vaccinate your dog you agree to participate in training at your own risk and at the risk of your animal. Owners are solely responsible for their unvaccinated animal(s).

Please email or bring a copy of your dog’s vaccination records to the first class so that I may view them; I do not keep records.

Dog-Dog Interactions in Class
To keep everyone safe, please give other people and dogs space. Please keep your dog from directly interacting with another person or dog with a leash. Dog interactions may be done only if instructed by the trainer - and during puppy socials.

People-Dog Interactions in Class
Please get owner permission before petting any other dog- please keep these interactions after class, as doing so before or during class can disrupt training.

Classes, People Per Dog
Each dog attending class must have at least one adult (18+) handler. Due to limited space, please limit attendance to two people per dog(including children).

Children
Children ages 12 and up are welcome to attend and participate in class with an adult. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Children must remain under parental supervision at all times.
Children of any age may, and are encouraged to participate in private lessons.

Disruptive Dogs in Class
In order to protect all participants in a class, we reserve the right to decline entry to, or remove from class, any dog who presents behavioral issues that may be deemed overly dangerous or disruptive, or that may be or exacerbated by participation in a group or class setting. In this occurrence private training may be recommended. Your cost of the class can be credited towards the total cost of private training.

Female Dogs in Heat
We apologize for the inconvenience, but female dogs in heat may not attend class. If a dog enters heat after registering, you may be credited for a future class or towards the value of private training.
